It should be working now. Open up the preferences panel and go to "MIDI Sync" panel. Surface drop down list and set the correct input and output MIDI ports. Is it possible to get a step-by-step video instruction on how this mapping works?

I can accomplish this by right-clicking the nested rack and selecting "lock to control surface 1". there is a PDF readme in the download folder, that covers everything pretty well. The scene buttons allow you to control the currently selected track and clip, arm, solo, record, play, stop etc (see below).
