No blasts of atomic fruit or flowers.Just a delightful scent experience.
I wanted to like this so much but it fell flat. I must have the reformulated version. Makes me gag. Word of warning, the current stuff is a shadow of the original. It's a shame Coty went ahead and ruined a scent that was a winner. Horrible! I wish neutral were an option on how I feel about this. This is a lighter fragrance, as far as projection and staying power, so you can wear it when you are going to be close to people or to places that don't appreciate sillage. Nope nope nope!
If I could create a perfume, it would smell something like Amazing Grace. It's great! It's a light floral scent that smells like a bubble bath. What remains is a soft freesia that stays very close to the skin despite my going heavy on the trigger. Its for when I (or those around me) need gentleness. While I enjoy this scent, I don't think I'll replace the bottle when I run out as there are other fragrances I'd rather wear. Its what I wear when Im feeling vulnerable. I mean, how is that even possible? I sent a sampler to my non perfume wearing sis thinking it was safe, but she said it smelled like an old lady. I wonder if they've diluted the formula or changed it somehow. This will catapult this fragrance into new places ! Someone in this thread called this fragrance "challenging" and it's so true. It smells weird and bothering.
When I wear a fragrance, I like it to be more of a statement. The citrus and musk hit my nose really hard and I thought I would give it away. And what is even better is the body lotion. New one smells screechy and cheap. Just wait! When Amazing Grace is first sprayed you receive a heady tart floral that honestly caught me off guard and had me worried. Definitely floral and musky with slight hints of citrus. When I tried this on, my first impression was hand soap. Opens with fresh, juicy citrus, followed by sweet, clean white flowers and rose, finished up with a generous dose of soapy laundry musk. It is worse than a body spray & I can't see how it is even classified as a toilette.
Although I remember this one being unbearably powdery to me in the past and now I think it's a lot more watery. The problem with it though is that I wonder if anyone else can even smell it because it's so light!
To me this is a very very soft scent. It was by no means a beast back then but it had decent longevity & sillage. I have the edt also. I made myself wear it for a whole day, I tried layering it, I even made sure I had a pre-Coty bottle (thanks eBay!) Kind of sickening on me. I had this perfume years ago and bought a new bottle this week, looks like the staying power is almost zero.
So gentle. I never owned this fragrance or sampled it prior to the reformulation that reviewers are speaking of, so this review is coming from a sample after reformulation. Gorgeous scent! I am yet to skintest, but on a card this has thesamefeel as issey The Scent, not as strong though. It was a gift from my parents, and now that I don't see them much their gifts are more precious.
Amazing Grace by Philosophy is a Floral fragrance for women. If I smelled this on another person, I would think it was nice (male or female). Oh gosh, reviews are all over the place I don't have half the reaction to this (for better or worse) as most people here. Fresh. If you like the scent of dirty laundry masked by fabric softener sheets, maybe try this. My tween daughter says this smells like cat litter. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this laundry detergent whatsoever. This is sweet and soft - and tea rose smells quite like mosquito repellent to me. Sorry for those who like this perfume but this is not what I expected base on my research. Sampling this, I feel like a little girl playing dress up with my mom or grandma's scent. Doesn't smell the same and lasts a mere 30 minutes. It's a simple sweet innocent white floral, inoffensive and young. I wanted to like it, but it's not memorable to me and none of the notes stood out to me. Like many reformulated perfumes they reduced the concentration. This fragrance has been in my perfume rotation for about 10 years now. The label on the bottom has a copyright of 2004. Still, I would ask for more longevity for the price I am paying (which is high, considering I must order online and pay a lot for shipping, as Philosophy products aren't sold in my country). This smells nice but to me it is very heavy on the florals, not enough of the listed citrus notes. I detect the florals and musk. I certainly agree that this is a great office scent, and at least close to being unisex, particularly in "formal" situations and in warm weather, if worn discreetly. This is blandness in perfume form. I can smell a strong/harsh citrus soap and maybe a tiny bit of some kind of flower, no softness at all in this! Even though it is not all that expensive, I can't justify the cost of it because it doesn't seem to last more than 15 minutes on me. Coty, what have you done?!
Any presence of other notes is slim to none. This perfume reminds a bit of Gucci Envy, very fresh and clean. This is just okay but I compared the old one with the new label one and the old one is much better. Slight fresh shower soap scent. No. It's not fruity or sweet, nice in this case. It's soapy, floral and inoffensive. Great scent for the office if you work in close quarters or where your co-workers may have allergies. Used to love this, but the new version is terrible! Perhaps, but it is a pretty perfume. The old version under the original women owners was a winner, everyone always asked me what I was wearing and said it smelled great and it lasted forever. It smells comforting to me. It might only be detected in small bursts or in a hug. This is a mild, beautiful floral scent. I buy the Mothers Day set every year. Nothing more to say, really.
My favorite part about this scent is the prominent musk in the base notes. Kind of similar to the small white bottle of narciso rodriguez. Amazing Grace Philosophy: clean and meh . I expected to like this I really enjoy other Philosophy fragrances (Falling in Love, Unconditional Love, Fresh Cream), and I also love a good, clean, floral scent. I smell iridescent bubbles floating on a bubble bath. Small mercies as this fragrance is very popular with older woman in my area. Its like 11 am in a warm morning on a working day, when you go to your home because you got a holiday, the silent breeze, fluttering leaves, its all about serenity.
But apparently it smells downright jasmine and very linear. Just never been a fan. My roommates and friends seem to enjoy the scent on me, even after its turned into an obnoxiously long lasting musk. Initially, I can smell the citrus, but that quickly disappears. If rose perfumes are your jam, then this is for you. It's a sharp citrus and almost soapy like. I received the body wash of this scent with my gift as well.
It is very unpleasant. Read about this perfume in other languages: Deutsch, Espaol, Franais, etina, Italiano, , Polski, Portugus, , , Nederlands, Srpski, Romn, , , , . I don't find anything synthetic in this. I really like it.
It's very nice and airy, kind of reminds me of an angel on a cloud (the name probably gives that impression too) but so far I don't find it groundbreaking. Very clean, pretty and simple. I smelled this on a lady years ago and asked her what she was wearing.
It smells a little similar to Chloe Fleur EDP, with that being a little more rosy and citrusy. It is light and sweet and reminds me of being young again. The dry down is a mellow floral with lots of musk. If I hadnt smelled anything when I first put it on, I would have thought there was water in the tube. Now I smell mostly alcohol with a small remnant of what the scent once was - no staying power and zero sillage. This is definitely a "fresh out of the shower" scent, so it's the kind of thing I would wear to the office or on a (casual, daytime) first date or just to hang out at my boyfriend's place to watch Netflix. I wish there was a similar perfume that lasted longer! I wanted a clean, soft fragrance and this is not it. Longevity is pretty terrible. Such a pity. it was one of my entryway perfumes and although i do admire it for that, i wouldn't see myself repurchasing. Never ever blind buy again. (But sophisticated loves-her-grandkids grandma!) this is an incredibly standard/linear soft floral frag nothing crazy but it's definitely pleasant. Unfortunately it really doesn't suit me. My mother's signature fragrance, and I absolutely love it on her!
It's gentle. Sweetened floral, mostly freesia anchored in a light musk. Epicene Gamma IFF: The Common Part of Spicy Men's Colognes of the 1980s.
On the other hand, I would rather wear Happy than this one, if I wanted to go in this direction. my moms signature scent lol she wore it all the time when i was growing up so i always think of her when i smell it.
Inoffensive soapy floral. It seems this has been greatly watered down. But I feel that the specific combination of the notes and how they are blended make this fragrance unique in my opinion. I smelled my hair and nothing. It smells sweeter on her than on me. It lasts well with reasonable projection and doesn't go too far in any one direction to become irritating. A nice clean floral scent. I don't see anything 'clean' and 'fresh' about it -. I've seen this described as a soapy fragrance but it's really more of a shampoo fragrance, just like Pure Grace.
This scent is lovely, clean and soft. Inoffensive, beautiful, not the strongest, but everyone loved it. It's ivory soap with baby powder to my nose.
Its a great purchase and I wholeheartedly enjoy this cute little gems company during the short time it lasts on my skin. It smells feminine, sophisticated, and clean. obsessed with this scent.
While I didn't like it at first, the scent grew on me. I have a small bottle I can stand wearing. I'm a nurse and love this for work- this and pure grace have gotten me more compliments FROM PATIENTS, than anything else. Someone could walk by and if this scent wafted to my nose, I would find it very pleasant. Someone whos into light, clean and crisp white floral fragrances would love this. I do feel that this scent can be girly, But, if a man wears this i'm sure he would get complimented on how good he smells. However at Ulta there were two Amazing Grace bottles, one had a white sticker and smelled like the one at Dillard's: soapy, quite strong. It's not loud, it's not over-bearing. It is that clean sheets/ laundry detergent plus some citrus thrown in kind of smell. They are soft and feminine and comforting. This is a review of the EdP, not the EdT or fragrance spray or whatever Philosophy used to call it. So while this is very inoffensive and nice, it's not a fragrance I would personally wear. Attempting all of the above adds up in price, so buyer beware. It is clean and soapy with a little muskiness, IMO. Such a bummer. But I still use it by layering it with other perfumes or cheap flowery colognes I have. Like Simply Belle, Amazing Grace EDT is straight up glue (I probably had some amazing glue in my childhood because several perfumes smell like glue to me) with a hint of soap. I don't think I could even use this as an air freshener. I pick this perfume when I need a little motivation or pick me up, it's a beautiful youthful scent. Fresh clean soap & freesia is pretty much all I pick up I this perfume. Yeesh. It's calm and airy, and yes, does remind me of dryer sheets. I once loved this scent very much. I recently bought the EDT at a discount pharmacy and I'm finding it to be a very challenging perfume.
This scent just evokes gentle and positive feelings every time I wear it. But I always combine the body spritz with the eau de parfum. Beautiful clean fragrance. There a hint of green floral here and there. Not my cup of tea. Smells very clean like your clothes are clean and you have showered without doubt but totally unremarkable and mundane. It's a bit too bold and formal smelling for me.
I always think of some lovely bubble bath when I smell it.
I liked it on one woman but on me it's a no. But for some, fresh laundry is a warm, relaxing, good feeling. Amazing Grace is one of those scents that just smell divine on everyone, including men.
My true thoughts about a fragrance often happen in the middle of the night, I woke up and in a half daze wondered why I could smell my friends fragrance SJP's Lovely, lay there in the dark trying to recall what fragrance I'd worn the previous day, ah it was Amazing Grace!
So good on you Philosophy!!!! sharp in my nose like when i wash my hands every 5 minutes at work. This fragrance is the scent of innocence. That being said, I'm sometimes confused by the "people who like, may also like" column that I see on the website. In fact I forgot I had sprayed it. It's the quiet girl at school who does her work, shows up on time and doesn't cause drama. Do not recommend it. I usually dislike citruses but this has a nice gentle top notes of citrus. Stronger than Pure Grace (which I love), more sillage, more longevity. I had a lot of ladies stop and ask me what I was wearing - saying they wanted to but it for daughters in law etc. I would have liked to have tried the original. Its a lovely clean scent , reminds me of benefit maybe baby, smells like a big warm fresh floral bubble bath. I lay now, having sprayed Angel Nova on the jacket next to me before going to bed, somehow oozing in Amazing Graces ever familiar smell that rubbed off onto me from a pajama shirt I accidentally sprayed with it a few days ago. However, due to its weak performance and projection, it is more of a scent to be worn at home than on a date. This screams GRANDMA. I can try 100 perfumes and always go back to this one. I think jasmine is one of my power notes and this is a nice, dry, clean jasmine/rose with a really beautiful musk base. I get mostly the white florals and a small *hint* of citrus. powdery musk also sinks in after the first notes. I don't quite understand how most of the Fragrantica folks are getting so much musk, as it isn't that musky on me, but we all know how the same fragrance will perform differently on different people. Amazing Grace is mine. I normally do not like a soapy or powdery smell but this is just heavenly. I used to make fun of this for being a boring church girl perfume, but then I smelled it. Waitis this perfume? It's inoffensive. This is a good perfume for workers in the medical field. Perfume lovers: 792,154 This is not a sweet fragrance but a squeaky clean musky soap and slightly juicy( in the opening) grapefruit sort of scent. Not for me. I do go back to this when I don't know what to wear! Longlasting Roses. To my nose this starts out very much like Vera Wangs Vera Wang. When I started on fragrantica in 2010 this was one of the first scents I reviewed (the review is gone). Although I agree with those of you who say that the new formula does not last as long as it used to, it does stay in your clothes, somehow. Its a great value for the longevity you get. I really like the smell of AG. I can't tell you how many times I have continued to buy it in the hopes the original scented formula came back. But boy, howdy, I sure do dislike Amazing Grace.
I found it to be a floral musky scent and not something I associate with "clean" fragrances. Plus, why bother with a perfume that has the staying power of a body spray at 5 times the price. I have to put my nose on my skin to smell it and I just put it on.
Very fresh scent, but a bit too much of a cleaning supplies smell. It's a sunny beach day in a bottle! I really like this light scent, which would be perfect for the spring/summertime. one of my coworkers wears this and it smells like she poured a bottle of the dawn with olay dish soap over herself and went about her day.
This is a very clean smelling, soapy fragrance. It's no one I would wear for any special occasion or anything but it's good for daily use, maybe at the office where you may not want to smell too strong, or even to wear to bed. I love that it's a bit shy and not too overpowering. So for me, definitely an aspirational scent. I told her that it was a my perfume and she said, "no, I'm definitely smelling shampoo." Very floral, kind of soapy, and kindly inoffensive. A friend and I beelined straight for Mecca Cosmetica to spritz ourselves with this perfume. I love how it stands out without completely drowning out the floral and citrus notes. There is no doubt Coty has changed the formula, probably to make it cheaper, the scent is now sometimes sharp and sometimes smells a bit like bug spray and it has absolutely no longevity or sillage, can barely smell it. I have a love/hate for it lol sometimes when I wear this its amazing other times its overwhelming lol. Like insense in an old church and sour something in it. It used to be the epic non-perfume - perfume to wear. Shampoo, very distinctively shampoo-y. Its soft and sexy in my opinion and when your lover smells it ,he will imagine you fresh out the shower or taking a shower with you ;) . It actually smells very clean.
I received a sample bottle with an item I purchased and am glad I didn't pay for this. The perfume has a nasty drydown on a lot of people.
Pity cause I would totally buy this if it was better quality. I personally love that it is not a powerful scent. I love it at its best, at its worst it annoys me. Exactly like fresh, clean linens. Was in Macy's today. This is not a scent I would usually ever go for but I was able to get it at a good price so I thought why not?
It's my own fault. Smells like straight up shampoo and dryer sheets on me.
However, if you're a lover of light, soft, white floral scents, this is for you!
Gives me a headache too. at least she doesnt smell dirty. I continue to wear it from time to time, but this perfume is a shadow of it's former self. But she is lovely. Amazing Grace is just OK; it's basically a shampooey floral musk, inoffensive and a bit boring. The only upside to this fleeting fragrance after reformulation is that it is less powdery on my skin, even though other reviews note a strong baby powder scent. However the longevity and sillage suck. You smell it on almost everyone now, so I don't use the spray anymore. But then I'm a fan of strong, vintage perfumes so this style would not likely appeal to me, anyway. Quite clean and soft.
This floral is clean and just a bit heavier than a lot of what is out there right now. This is one of those fragrances that still smell nice the next day, lingering in your clothes.
