One flaw of the Galaxy Book Pro 360 5G was its anemic SSD, which can hold back the laptops overall capabilities. We came in expecting the most of the Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 in terms of battery life and we werent disappointed. One of the left-side ports supports Thunderbolt 4, and any of the three can charge the laptop via the supplied AC adapter. You'll find a bit more power in some similarly sized and priced alternatives and even higher-quality design in a few systems such as the Dell XPS 15 OLED, but there are few real flaws here if you like a big 2-in-1. The glossy display, though, does reflect quite a bit of ambient light. That leads the pack by a wide margin, and really fulfills the laptop's billing as a smartphone-like mobile experience. This is surely due to the system's thin design, but the keys feel shallow and don't offer satisfying feedback. The thinness of the Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 is a key reason why it works so well as a 2-in-1 machine. The trackpad is a sore point, with its large size hindered by an unsatisfying click, and only half the surface being physically clickable at all. The Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 is extremely capable as a media consumption machine, powered by Intels very latest 12th Gen P-series processorsbuilt for strong performance in thin and light devices.
While the 2022 model's design is very similar to the original Book Pro 360's, the internals have received a speed boost. The Book2 Pro 360s trackpad is mammoth, almost certainly wider than your smartphone when placed in landscape mode, 5.25 inches wide and 3.5 inches high. He has formerly written for PCMag, BYTE, Slashdot, eWEEK, and ReadWrite. In practice, the goal is to manage power more efficiently, resulting in longer battery life but not compromising performance. Theres not a lot of key travel in the Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 only 1mm, where 1.25mm or even 1.5mm is more common. Over the last few years, performance differences between single processor generations haven't been great, but Intel's 12th Gen "Alder Lake" chips have impressed us.
The length of time this Samsung machine lasts is also assisted by the reluctance to step up to a higher QHD resolution. Samsung offers no possible processor upgrades, so your only option is bumping the RAM and storage (a single, unified upgrade selection) as in our test unit. To me, that helps focus my conclusion. Speaking of the keyboard, we're disappointed to say that the typing experience hasn't improved since the first model. I rarely heard even the whisper of a fan while in the default Optimized mode, which is accessible via the Settings app. Your mileage may vary on how useful this is (some users rarely or never use the touch screen, let alone flipping the system into tent or tablet modes), but it's a nice option to have. We use four main tests to measure performance: PCMark 10, Cinebench (R15), Handbrake, and 3DMarks Time Spy test. In order, these let you create a hidden folder on the solid-state drive, make it more difficult for snoopers to read your display over your shoulder, block unwanted webcam or microphone recordings, and provide login camera security. When flipped around into tablet mode, it doesnt feel cumbersome to hold and operate, and this is true of the 15.6-inch model Ive tested for this review, so I would expect the smaller 13.3-inch version to offer even more comfort in this regard. The keyboard simply isnt as comfortable as you might like. If you prefer a keyboard with a deeper key travel, consider a Lenovo laptop or a Microsoft Surface. Performance is silky smooth, and a pleasant keyboard is great to have as well. The same choices are available for the 13.3-inch model. The aluminum chassis construction feels sturdy, though theres some give in the keyboard tray if you depress it hard enough. The Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 clearly isnt designed to stun, with a fairly standard clamshell lookand this is particularly the case with the simple silver model I tested. One of the ports on the left-hand side is a full Thunderbolt 4 port, designated by a faint black-on-charcoal thunderbolt logo. As laptop makers like Huawei do, Samsung uses the power button in the upper right-hand corner as a Windows Hello replacement, with a fingerprint reader embedded into the surface. The P-series CPU shows its limits in comparison to the others, but in the grand scheme of processor performance, it still offers respectable pep. This doesn't affect our editorial independence. The main benchmark of UL's PCMark 10 simulates a variety of real-world productivity and content-creation workflows to measure overall performance for office-centric tasks such as word processing, spreadsheeting, web browsing, and videoconferencing. Turning on Dolby removes the tinniness from the AKG-tuned speakers. But at 15.6 inches, folding the keyboard all the way behind the screen makes for one nice, roomy tablet. Its a good indicator of overall performance across a variety of tasks. It also offers a 360-degree convertible chassis as well as a relatively comparable price point. Intel's Iris Xe integrated graphics are the only choice, likely due to the system's slim design and thermal constraints, so if you want a game-worthy dedicated GPU you'll have to look elsewhere. Our final performance benchmark is the 3DMark Time Spy benchmark, which is probably less significant given that the laptop isnt designed for gaming. We found fault with the fingerprint reader and keyboard, but not enough to hold back our Editors Choice recommendation. This is hardly novel in 2022, a decade after Lenovo's first IdeaPad Yoga, so it doesn't need much explanation. The display hinge holds quite firmly, even if you deliberately (but gently) whip the display back and forth holding the keyboard. You should also pick your color option wisely. Ad Choices. To be fair, though, Samsungs 15.6-inch display is significantly larger and it emphasizes inking with the included S Pen. Some may be dismayed that Samsung once again sticks with a Full HD panel here, but the lack of pixels doesnt tell the whole story.
